I have some Hazelight tea ]I need to spill. Probably don't read this on any podcasts cuz I don't think it's my story to tell to the masses, but I think a little comment section is okay ;)

So a few years ago I worked with a director and sound technician who were in the studio for A Way Out. According to them, Josef Fares showed up with a completely unintelligible script, which they had to practically rewrite for him line-by-line (uncredited, of course) while the actors just stood around waiting to have something to work with.

Having tried and failed to play through the game, which my partner described as "if Tommy Wiseau directed the next Naughty Dog game," I think it tracks.

Russ taking a Zoi to “pork city” was both completely expected and unexpected.

It’s weird, as a lifelong sims player I find inzoi very unappealing, especially after your discussion.

It sounds like it leans a lot more into realism in a way the sims just never did, it’s a franchise built on sad clown paintings with souls and bunny mascots showing up when you get lonely. It’s so stylised and goofy that I look at inzoi and it’s hyper realistic people and it’s just not what I look for and I think a lot of people too. I’m not sure it’s going to be as big of a migration as it looks

Yeah, and then on the other hand there’s the lack of realism when it comes to the way people look. As much as The Sims 4 has its issues, the developers have done a ton of work over the years adding some really great diverse options to their CC! And looking at the screenshots inzoi is like, the Sims if you just want to play as pale skinny people. Which has absolutely no appeal to me at this point :/

I agree, a game that claims to be so realistic and they haven’t figured out how to have the ability to have wheelchairs, canes, crutches, blind characters, deaf characters, etc? Like sure the Sims hasn’t either but at least they are trying by adding hearing aids, diabetes monitors, scars, vitiligo, etc.

I think it’s indicative of a larger trend in gaming where the most hyped games and most awarded games are the ones that are so hyper realistic that even people with the most souped up set ups are still having problems, as the lads mentioned here about their own machines. I don’t want a photorealistic game. I like the charm and goofiness of the Sims where cartoon hearts appear over my sims when they woohoo or they can drink a magic tea to change their mood. I don’t need to map my face in real time for facial expressions.

I look forward to Griffin's Fuser performances every MaxFunDrive, and last year's especially inspired me to learn how to add custom songs after having not played for a few years. It really is a great community of helpful people, and it really is a shame that it's not available any more. It genuinely makes you feel like a house DJ, so much so that I am even planning on performing my mixes for Middle School dances that I chaperone (I'm a music teacher)! Thanks for inspiring me, Griffin! :-)

I actually had bought the game before it shut down. I do know there are still ways - there's a great Discord server with links. https://discord.gg/QeawW9xY

Thanks to Justin I installed Bazzite dual boot on my ROG Ally. What an upgrade. I actually want to play this thing now without having to deal with windows updates and a crud sleep mode

After 17 yrs, I finally got the Filet-O-Fish song out of my head and Russ had to pop it back in there. I will be cursed for many more moons.

If you like R.E.P.O and Lethal Company you've probably heard of Content Warning but if not here's the pitch. Rather than extracting valuable items from monster infested ruins, you get a camcorder and have to make a engaging video that shows off the monsters and possibly footage of your friends dying. Really fun and silly. And you get to watch the videos you made after.

Proximity chat is the funniest video game development. Hearing someone in REPO scream in the other room will make me laugh every time

Duckie is a friend, as long as you don't pick him up or let him get hurt, he won't do anything except follow you. The next content update is adding a bucket that you can put on his head to confuse him.

Blue Prince! My wife and I put 80+ hours into the demo, and we are incredibly excited for it to drop. We haven't been this into a game together since Animal Well, since Kira isn't super into games. However, the chill vibe and driving mystery of this title combined with the deck building, path finding, roguelike elements create a unique experience that keeps pushing that just one more day gameplay. I highly recommend it as a game to play with a friend or a significant other as making discoveries together is such an awesome joint experience. Do you all see yourself playing with your spouses or others?

Have any of the boys checked out Nubby's Number Factory? I picked it up after watching Chiblee and Northernlion play it and I think Justin would be into it.

Severance Season 2 finale aired and it was spectacular. This season often felt quite different from the first, but not in a bad way.

Lots of questions answered and even more questions asked. Excited for season three. Hopefully it doesn't take three more years though. 😅

Watching Griffin and Travis play Repo was a blast. I don't think it's a game that *I* would enjoy... But I'm glad someone made it because it's very strange and fun to watch.

This was one of the funniest eps in a while. Russ’s InZoi romance saga was sending me. “Well one of us had a deep connection” almost made me spit out my drink.

I’m glad you guys mentioned both the gen AI and the strenuous system requirements for Inzoi. I didn’t know about either and now I have zero interest. Does it suck that EA keeps charging for expansion packs and stuff? Sure. But I find if you’re only interested in a handful of packs like me, it’s no different than when I was a kid and my dad would take me to Best Buy every however many months to buy the latest expansion packs for the first Sims game. Plus you can get the first two sims games with all expansions for what, like $40?? That’s a great deal! Granted I’ve encountered a few bugs but they are putting updates out for it almost every week or two to fix those.
