Guy with the username "twogendersonly" LMAO. Typical bigot with main character syndrome. Get the sunglasses in the truck pic and get it over with, loser.
I was absolutely CRYING laughing at Justin's "He's not a coward, he's just never been tested" joke about the Mighty Mighty Bosstones lead singer rejecting the vaccine. Thanks for brightening my day, Justin!
I will continue mentioning Cobalt Core -- a new space-battling roguelite deckbuilder with DNA from Slay the Spire, Into the Breach, FTL, and Undertale. Very rarely do I encounter a deckbuilder with anywhere near as much legs as Slay, but this one is the closest so far.
Thank you! Came here to say this (and I mentioned it in the comments of a previous newsletter as well). At least some of the Besties crew will really like it I think.
There is a focus on deckbuilding, but most of the variability is in starting loadout -- you pick 3 crew members to start with out of 8, which each affect your starting deck and what cards are available throughout the run. Additionally there are 5 different ships. So there are tons of ways to start a run (and a ‘randomize’ button). Unfortunately the game takes a little bit of a hit in enemy variety compared to StS, but still tons of replayability.
Jusant was awesome for me too! I would love if they release some standalone climbing levels. I loved the immersive world but the climbing itself was awesome and I want more of it.
is there nothing sacred anymore in this world? a man literally birthed a new being out of his head like Zeus himself, is it worth anything only so far as it gathers likes online?
Also here to say Thank you Besties helping to navigate a truly stellar games year. I don’t buy games often but it’s always on your recommendation. Sea of Stars has changed how I judge game genres, as I’ve always thought “JRPG” meant not for me.
So Merry holiday season and thank you again for a great year!
Hi Besties, I actually have an indie rec for you guys! My friends made a really cool game for the Playdate, it's called Root Bear. In Root Bear, you have a limited amount of time to pour root beer for bears, using the crank to control the tap. My friends in Team Root made it initially for Global Game Jam 2023, and have been working on it since, and now it's officially available on the Playdate store, and I couldn't be more proud!!! If you have a Playdate, please check it out!!!
Also I voted "No" for the earwax pic, just for the record.
I humbly request the ear wax appear in its own special extra edition of the letter so that I can delete the email without opening.
Yes, yes, yes - I am TERRIFIED at the current poll results and the prospect of having to blindly delete a handful of future newsletters.
Don't be such a wuss. This is the internet. You should be used to seeing disgusting shit.
No thanks!

>implying there are more than 2 genders
Can newsletters have revealable spoiler text? If so, great!
Yup for sure
I just came here immediately after the episode to say I need to see the infamous picture that even Slack said was too much

I was on the bus and must have seemed like a madman the way I lost it

Pitching in on this. Obsessed with this all week long. Cute, great mechanics and gameplay, AND often laugh out loud funny!!!
Added this to my wish list thanks!
I’m also interested in checking out Pirate Outlaws.

I also need to reiterate how fun this game is!
Looks a lot like a couple other rogue lites I’ve played. Does it focus in on the deck building and card mechanics. Or is it more like FTL?

Post the earwax you cowards. I wanna look at it while I listen to ska.
I am astounded at the energy of this episode
completely unhinged
Does Substack have a graphic photo warning/spoiler overlay?
I'm just sitting here stunned that Russ "can't pronounce Mario" Frushtick pronounced "piton" better than Matt Mercer ever has :)
Piranesi rules. I just finished my first reread this month.
