The fact that Russ said he was a Master Chief and none of you said anything shows a level of journalistic restraint that is commendable.

Thanks so much for this episode, as someone who just got their first handheld emulator last year I have glanced through some of Russ’ videos and was very interested in hearing from him in a longer format in this episode!

I want to specifically thank him for the part of the ep discussing piracy and port master and manually loading your games to a handheld, and tell him that even if those vids aren’t his best performing, we do appreciate them! I ended up buying Shovel Knight on the Humble Store specifically because of his video on how to add SK to your emulator and that that store had the DRM version that was easiest to use!

Ordered a Retroid Pocket 5 based on Plante's article. It arrived yesterday and I spent last night setting it up following Russ's guide. It's so cool!

Someone made a script that can generate an Android APK using the UFO 50 game files (https://github.com/Skyline969/UFO50AndroidUnofficial), so I'm using that as a chance to finally check it out

It could have been difficult to tell which Russ Justin was talking to but somehow his tone of voice always made it clear.

A fantastic episode! I had just gotten a Retroid Pocket for my birthday to play GameCube games so I was so pleased to hear about all these resources. The Retro Game Corps videos helped me so much and I was one of those lil babies who needed all the handholding so I thank you so much~!

I was recently gifted a Playdate over the holiday season. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard y’all talk about the handheld but I’m wondering if there are any specific games you guys consider must plays for the device?

Root Bear rocks. I bring my Playdate to the bar every once in a while to play with my one friend and we like to compete back and forth. One day we will hit that coveted 100.

Really glad y'all invited Russ in for a feature episode on handhelds. I've always been intimidated by all the options (not just all the models, but the programs and OS stuff too), and hearing his thoughts on what I should look for as someone new to the space was really helpful

In response to last episode, if they come out with a new Steamdeck-like standing console… you know they’ll call it a ‘Steamdock’

This ep inspired me to get my first retro handheld. Do you have any older (GBA era) games that would be fun for my 4 year old. He's just starting to play some games on the switch, but the larger form factor can be frustrating. I got a cute little anbernic as a little seasonal affective disorder project and want to get some simple, and frustration lite games he can enjoy. Thanks!

My newest rec for Griffin and anyone else who likes a Pokemon-like: Beastieball is on EA on Steam, but feels pretty done aside from some art and maybe endgames stuff (I’m still playing through). It’s Pokemon, but instead of fighting the beasties play volleyball! Which is sort of a turn-based tactics type strategy game rather than the rock/paper/scissors type mechanic of Pokémon and other likes. I find the combat way more entertaining/engaging to grind than regular Pokemon so far. The character designs are pretty great so far too. I’m not usually a fan of the more anthro designs, and there’s a fair amount of them in Beastieball, but since they are evolved to play volleyball, it almost makes sense and doesn’t bother me as much.

Oh, and the story isn’t too bad! There’s some conservation messaging that’s surprisingly mature and the main story is pretty light and funny. Plays great on the deck, and there’s a demo available as well!

Great episode, so cool to have Russ from RGC on! I love it when y'all have guests on in general, but it was neat to have someone on to talk about a specific area of expertise.

I've been curious about these for quite some time now, but of course was always put off by the endless release of a million models of things named like scams you'd get off Wish or whatever. There's been talk of the Retroid Pocket 5 that has crossed my path a fair bit in the last month or so so I had been thinking of maybe finally taking the plunge and grabbing one of those, but thanks to this episode and Guest Russ' videos I realized what I really wanted was the TrimUI Smart Pro, so I ordered one of those. Thanks lads.

corru.observer, a free episodic web game that i think bestiesheads will really enjoy cuz of the point-and-click adventure and mystery elements just released the finale to its first story arc and man, it is really something. ive kinda been waiting for this episode to drop before mentioning it in this thread because i think now is the perfect time to check it out... there is SO much in it and its engineered by some pretty good friends of mine whose work i love. smiles :)
