justin starting to list all of the "mainline" mario games instantly reminded me of the jan misali videos on this topic... if you've got two and a half hours to spare, they're very much worth it
On the topic of 3rd games that could use ports/remasters, I offer kid Icarus uprising for your consideration. That game with normal controls sounds amazing (though maybe too easy; they would need to tune a few things). Also that Mario game (3D land I think?)
On the topic of 2024’s overlooked games (that are extremely NOT besties material): eiyuden chronicle is essentially a brand new suikoden game. It had a pretty rough launch but it is one of the best kickstarter games I’ve played in feeling like an organic follow up and not just pure nostalgia.
