Going from "what if you were an exiled detective/member of a blood cult that uses mass sacrifice to maintain power" to "what if you ran a mascot agency exclusively consisting of eccentric cryptids" seems about right for Kaizen Game Works. Beyond excited to play this game!
I have a few building game suggestions that the person who asked can take a look at!
Vintage Story is a take on the Minecraft voxel game with more in depth building tools. It has a creative mode so you can build freestyle
Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster have some great customization and building tools for designing very intricate landscapes
Tiny Glade is a great little game that just lets you build castles and ruins.
Summer House and Townscaper, also in the same vein as tiny Glade
A throwback from my childhood is Blockland, a Lego style building game where you are the size of a minifig
And finally i think The Sims 4 has really good building tools, just type motherlode in the console a few times and you can build to your hearts content. Also it's free!
I have a book recommendation for Justin - The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett!
It’s a detective series inspired by things like Nero Wolfe but set in a wild scifi/fantasy world with kaiju. The second book just came out and it’s fantastic, I love the combination of genres so much.
Justin saying that it was hard to relate as an American to this work set up where a boss controls everything and takes 75% of earnings, because coops are vogue in America, is wild! It's good that Maximum Fun treats you so well! I think for most folks what's in vogue is private equity buying your company and slowly grinding you and the company to dust.
I enjoyed the segment on emulation allowing us to quickly understand and appreciate retro games in a way that you can't with other types of media, and wanted to share a suggestion to you and the listeners.
It's a YouTube channel called Virtual Gaming Library - VGL.
For each console and handheld, they use emulation to create these hours long, commentary-free gameplay showcases of only 10 seconds per game back to back to back. A single video which shows gameplay for EVERY title that platform has to offer without having to click around. There are no hosts or opinions or annoying interjections. Just the gameplay. It's like a museum. You get to see what the title is and what year and what regions it was available for, and in 10 seconds you're seeing gameplay of the next alphabetic title from A to Z.
They also have some shorter individual videos for each letter, like All PS2 games that start with A, but I recommend the very long ones that just keep going.
Putting it on in the background has shown me a TON of games I never would have even touched.
It looks like they also have some genre compilations too. Helpful if you can't remember the name of something but you know what it looked like when you played it.
Hey gang hope you can help me out. I am looking for a game that the boys talked about a while back. I barely remember but It was a history focused game where you played as a Franciscan monk and had arguments with the devil? I remember the episode being where Plante discussed his relationship with religion and was super intrigued. I know that’s not much to go on!
Pentiment may have been it, but your description also has hints of Indika, where you're a nun that has arguments with the devil in some kind of bleak steampunk Catholic alternative timeline.
Has justin ever mentioned what program he uses for emulation on raspberry pi? The mixtape SD card thing sounds awesome, and I'd love to utilize something like that, but does it only work on certain softwares?
I’m still mourning the loss of developer Roll7. Am I just supposed to accept that I’ll never get another Ollie Ollie game? No sequel to Rollerdrome? What can I do aside from send an angry letter to take-two every day?
This is following up on a question that was raised in last week’s ep about whether Steam surfaces accessibility features when people are browsing. Well they just tonight sent out a notification to developers that they can now fill out an Accessibility Features section that will be shown to shoppers. Neat!

I just listened to the into so far but it sounds like Plante’s new nickname is Flow.

Easily become one of my favorites for this year.
I'm so glad you guys are talking about this game!! Truly nailed it with the headline.

Here's every Game Boy game, as an example.

Pentiment? Not exactly as described but I think that’s the one.
This is it! Thank you!
Hell yeah! This game rules!
I enjoyed it!

Welcome to the 'waiting for the next gentleman bastards book' club Justin!

Can anyone point me to some sites with these curated emulator sd-cards that were mentioned?
I really liked the musing on and forgiveness for mindless games as an escape, something I needed to hear.
I feel like Unpacking is the purest “chore game” I’ve ever played—even as I had no idea what some of the things I was unpacking actually were, lol.
