Spooky season doesn’t simply vanish when October ends. It lingers. Whether you listen to this episode on Halloween or in the early days of November, chances are the air is crisp, the nights are long, and the grocery story has begun selling apple cider and pumpkin pie.
The video game gods agree that we shouldn’t rush to toss our Jack O’Lanterns in the compost. For Resties, we’ve dug into World of Horror, the Japanese horror game inspired by retro text adventures and the artist Junji Ito. And in a few days, you’ll hear us take a trip into the Pacific Northwest mind-boggle of Alan Wake 2.
Plus, we shine the spotlight on Laika: Aged Through Blood, both the cutest and goriest of the bunch.
Don’t hang the Christmas decorations just yet! There’s still plenty time to get scared!

Spooky season is a state of mind
I was really intrigued with the discussion about World of Horror and was lucky enough to nab one of the codes. Thanks so much!
Re: Teaching thank you: Way back in the cub scouts we were taught how to safely handle and pass pocket knives. The giver hands the closed pocket knife to the receiver, the receiver gets a good grip on the knife and says "thank you" to indicate that they are holding it safely, and only then will the giver let go. My family still does this out of habit when handing things to each other. Asking "What do we say?" is also great advice.
