Glad to hear at least Kevin Conroy had a good performance. My boyfriend has always been a HUGE Kevin fan so this being his last game is... A little upsetting.
Btw - wanted to belatedly thank you for your updated Cyberpunk episode! I took the plunge after that and recently beat the game after 130 something hours. Holy moly!
I’ve been hearing a lot about it being Kevin Conroy’s last game/project and that being a shame, but I think it’s okay. It’s a little upsetting, sure, but I think it’s okay. I don’t think anyone went into the project wanting to make a bad game and certainly no one went in knowing that he would pass. Kevin Conroy is the voice of my Batman, he’s the Batman voice I hear in my head; as a 90s kid, Batman TAS shaped me from a young age. When he passed, through tear-filled eyes, I wrote a piece on my blog about what he meant to me. I don’t think we should let one bad game have any bearing on his amazing legacy.
I’m once again begging y’all to take a look at the amazing visual novel Slay the Princess. it has fantastic voice acting from Jonathan Sims (of The Magnus Archives fame) and Nichole Goodnight. It’s tense and weird and fast paced and loaded with decisions that matter from the very start. Even if you’re not normally into VNs i think you should give this one a look.
Hey Besties, just wondering if any of you had a chance to check out any of the demos during Steam's Next Fest? I personally found the game "Pacific Drive" to be a lot of fun, and am looking forward to the full releases of these games!
Also as a side note, the original Granblue Fantasy is still supported and is fully translated into English, it's just not in the US app store for some reason.
I'm actually really liking the Suicide Squad game 30 hours in. It's obvious lots of love went into the small details in the game. The cutscenes are great and the mocap and facial animations are incredible. Somewhat repetitive gameplay aside, I find the traversal and combat very fluid and fun.
Hell yeah! Glad to see the game get some love. I love these types of games. I put 100 hours into avengers, still play division 2 weekly, but redfall being so disastrous made me leery of suicide squad but I'll probably jump in soon.
Hey Besties, great episode this week! I'm writing in to give a shoutout a Stardew-like game that I've been playing a lot this week, Palia! It's an indie free-to-play thats still in beta, and it's extremely good. I especially think Griffin would like it, it's sort of a blend between Stardew Valley and the exploration and visual style of BotW. Highly recommend checking it out if you have the time! Thanks for all you do
Hey Besties - a game that I think you really missed in 2023 was Void Stranger. It's an inventive sokoban style puzzler with a Gameboy aesthetic and one of the deepest meta-narratives emerging from glitches and game-breaking player agency I've seen in a game. It is 1000% Plante-bait and I would love to hear him try to sell the rest of you on it.
Hey besties. I am incredibly sad right now. I received an email this morning that Yoshitaka Murayama, the creator of the Suikoden series and the lead designer of the upcoming Eiyuden Chronicles has passed. Suikoden 1 and 2 are up there with my favorite RPGs of all time (only behind Final Fantasy 6 Chrono Trigger and FF7 Remake) and was wondering if any of you guys have any Suikoden memories or if you're looking forward to Eiyuden Chronicles.
Plante: sadly I’ve never played the suikoden games but I’ve always loved reading about them, all the way back to gamepro and egm stories on them. They intimidated me but they seem amazing. And I always love hearing Jason Schreier talk about them
On a "you might have missed this" note, deckbuilding roguelike Wildfrost got a new update that makes the difficulty level much more adjustable by allowing the player to add difficulty modifiers to an easier base game. I remember that was the main complaint about the game was how difficult it was to complete a run - happy to report to other Besties fans that its gotten some rough spots hammered out!
for anyone feeling overwhelmed about persona or someone who would be into a more casual game how do yall feel about using a non-spoiler schedule guide for Persona 3 reload. When 5 royal came out and I was already familiar with P5 I used a guide to expirance the game as much as possible.
Do you guys feel there's a discernible difference between the LCD and OLED Steam Decks? Now that the LCDs are discontinued and on sale, I'm thinking of getting one, but if the OLED is worth the extra $100, I'd get that.
The screen is great, but I think the most important improvement is the battery life. I wouldn't sell my original to get an OLED, but if I didn't already have one, this would be worth the extra $100 imo
Plante, I read your Polygon article about the Dune Pop Corn bucket. You are a gifted comedic writer.
You could practically feel the shame pouring out of those written words when he ordered it "for a friend". Wonderful article

The Pacific Drive trailer looked excellent, glad to hear the demo was good!
I did the demo, i didnt want it to end. On the wishlist for sure

What are the chances y'all will talk about Helldivers 2? Would love to hear you spread the democracy with the besties!
Next Friday!!
Just want to say y’all should look at helldivers 2 soon!

I tried it last year, it was adorable but the difficulty killed it for me. Glad they've sorted that out
You guys tear through video games at an astonishing rate. If you had to guess, how many hours a day do you dedicate to gaming?
Love the show. Grape job everyone.
Have you guys checked out Tape to Tape? It's a roguelite hockey game in early access on steam.
Yes! it's so good!

Thank you for the show
There are some excellent guides on Steam for P4G and P5R. I haven't checked P3, but I'm sure there will be some awesome ones up soon if you can wait.

Seconding all of the above!
Anyone got a link to the Apple Vision Pro unboxing video that Griffin was talking about?
