Not sure if you all know about this already, but I recently discovered a back door way to (legally!) get Balatro on mobile. This website has a very easy to follow guide on how to install it (https://retrohandhelds.gg/how-to-install-balatro-on-android-and-ios/). Took me 15 minutes. You can even transfer your Steam files so you don’t need to start from scratch.
Apologies in advance for enabling all your Balatro addictions!
So wait… does Russ’ new podcast do commentary during the movie or do they all watch and discuss afterwards? Is the rating system out of 10 or 5 buckets of popcorn? Was it called The Reel Deities?
Hi I’m a brewer, and the little 3oz beers Griffin is referring it are a style known as Kölsch! It’s the traditional style from Cologne and is a hybrid between an ale and a lager designed to be drank in large quantities, one little glass at a time. The server keeps bringing you little kölsch glasses as soon as you finish one until you put your coaster on top of your glass to indicate you’re done. It’s one of my favorite traditions in beer. Prost!
Huge Plug for Heat Signature, Tom Francis's previous sci-fi stealth tactics game. It had dozens of different gadgets which did things that stop time, destroy whole rooms, and teleport you or enemies - all with upsides and downsides that combine to make each room unique.
The gang should really take a look at Shogun Showdown.
I just listened to this episode and I was reminded that some of them really like Into the Breach. Shogun Showdown scratches the same itch. It's a little rogueli*e that plays like a tactical game but feels like a very dynamic puzzle game. I'm liking Showdown even more than Breach, because the core rules are so simple. You could explain the basic idea in 60 seconds, but the game layers so many clever mechanics over it, and it all gels perfectly. Seriously one of my personal GOTYs so far, and it doesn't deserve to stay under the radar.
We finally have the smoking gun against Russ's pronunciation of Mario! He pronounces these two words, which are spelled using the exact same Italian spelling concepts, totally differently:
Mario = "MAY-ree-oh"
Mafia = "MAH-fee-uh"
If he wanted to be consistent it would be "MAY-fee-uh". Gotcha! =)
Tactical breach wizards was such a wonderful surprise. Thank you for covering the game Besties. You mentioning the fun writing and chill approach for the puzzles was really what made me look it up. I have never played a game like this before and hadn't I played BG3 last year and realised that I do enjoy round-based-combat to a certain degree, I would never have looked at it twice. Maybe a weird comparison but it did the trick for me to dive into this gem headfirst.
Have any of you checked out deadlock? I was a big MOBA hater, and I’m still not super comfortable with it, but there’s something about it that is very appealing and I’ve been enjoying playing it so far.
Kind of surprised Besties is covering that Wukong game as I thought they tend to shy away from controversial developers or generally any game that’s tied to something controversial.
Hi there gang! Wanted to make a listener suggestion for the new adventure game on steam called 'The Crimson Diamond'. It is in the spirit of old point and click games with an Agatha Christie cozy mystery feel. Had a great time with it.
unrelated - did you guys see that a twitch streamer release a game this month? Unrooted by Mizkif. I think this was on last years(?) gaming predictions
Hi Besties! When you talk about games on the show, can you mention what platforms they're on? It would save me time looking for things on stores where they don't exist!
Fun fact the developer has this game, gunpoint, and heat signature in a steam collection called the Defenstration Triology
I was getting on to leave this exact comment.
I didn’t hear if they said: how is Tactical Breach Wizards on the Deck?
It runs great! It's not verified but I have not had a single issue with it.
I would like to know this as well!

Y’all have talked a lot about terrible game titles, i would LOVE a discussion or patreon bracket ep on what you think makes a great title!

It also features A LOT of Defenestration lol

Have yall played Arco? It looks sick and I’ve been hearing lots of buzz from it from folks like LocalThunk and Chris Person at Aftermath

Generally if you google the game and get its website, the website’s main page will list every platform it’s on because they want you to buy the game.
What you’re asking is a bit of a tall order for them since a lot of games are on multiple platforms.
