I just wanted to second Russ’s recommendation of Solo Solo Travel and recommend 3 other channels with a Similar Tone and Genre (First Person Travel).

DancingBacons is basically the brother to Solo Solo Travel, but for food. They go all around Asia and try stuff from the cool ramen restaurants and machines and candies to expensive Sushi or anything else that seems cool.

4K WDW is Solo Solo Travel but for (you guessed it) Disney World. They do everything from ride throughs to walking from park to park to Multiple Hour Long “Ultimate” videos that cover the parks to as much as one can film, and they even go to different parks across the country and world sometimes. All filmed in glorious 4K as well.

Finally, there are several channels that do this, but my favorite is Walking Ambience, which does walking tours of Las Vegas. They label their videos and point out highlights as you go along and are also in 4K HDR.

Hope this helps anyone who enjoys these kinds of videos or wants to show off their new High Definition TV.

I was I little Luke warm on the demo for Indika, but fully onboard with the full game. The story starts earlier than the demo and the opening section of gameplay I found more engaging than what I played of the demo. And you can invert the y-axis, so all's good. (Haven't listened to this episode yet to hear what y'all say about the full game).

Damn, now I can't stop watching Solo Solo Travel. This is some incredible content. And the timing and writing of the subtitles is surprisingly funny.

Plante dropping a Toejam & Earl reference made my whole year. I feel like no one knows about TJ&E, but it's one of my favorites!

Well, it's time to once again summon up all my religious trauma and play Indika I guess!

I'd love to see a B-side take or a Resties on Take 2 Interactive and Kerbal Space Program 2, as well as news around Cities Skylines 2. Both have been games with quite big, if niche, followings, and both games have had rocky development and frustrated fans. Maybe once more of the dust settles.

Wanted to drop some of my favorite romance books here. My all-time fav in the genre is The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V E Schwab. It's about a woman in 18th century France who makes a deal with a devil-adjacent figure to live forever, but the cost is that everyone she meets forgets her. UNTIL...one guy doesn't. It seems like a Justin book. I also really loved One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston, and for graphic novels I'd recommend Heartstopper by Alice Oseman or Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe.

If you want to get back into destiny and haven’t played in a long time, you can jump on and grab a chest of max light level gear. It is by shaxx in the hall of champions.

I really hope Justin reads Shogun. If he enjoyed the show so much (it’s great!) then I especially think he would love the book. It’s long but completely worth it.

Welp I had no idea I missed the latest season of Fargo. Thank you for bringing it up!

I recommend Sugar, it's on Apple TV+. I don't want to say too much, but if you like mysteries and noir, you'll likely enjoy it. There's 6 episodes so far.

My tip on the game (No Rest for the Wicked) is that using runes for healing abilities (healing aura?) makes the game feel like it has a healing pot/estrus flask. It changes the feel of the game

y’all. pros and cons for hopping on to Hades 2 early access? did any of y’all do it for the first one? am I spoiling the joy of the full release next year by picking it up? or is the real joy in being a part of the building process?? heeeeeeeeeeelp

Am I crazy for wishing that yall would not bring early access games to the Besties regular feed? Like 1 the devs haven't finished building the game so there's gonna be issues both in how it functions and balancing and 2 the video game club side of this podcast is geared towards playing games that people are interested in and buying a game in early access feels almost as taboo as pre-ordering a game. Like as a patreon exclusive or resties ep I would understand and then bring it to the regular feed when it actually releases, just kinda feels unfair for the dev team and provides an expectation that the game should be complete before it is released. I know that is probably part of the journalism side of the pod... but the video game fan in me feels weird about it

This is a good question and maybe one we will discuss on the show sometime. I get where you're coming from, and would have agreed with you a few years ago. But Early Access has become a tricky thing recently. Studios are selling Early Access games and tons of people are buying them. And more and more living games blur the line between Early Access and official release. For example, when would Fortnite have been covered?

I think it's quite different than pre-ordering, because a pre-order is often made before the game has been tested/vetted by reviewers and other players. For us, talking about the game allows our listeners to make an informed decision.

As for the dev team: the developers have chosen to sell their product in whatever state that they make the game available. At that point, my concern broadly shifts to the players who have to choose whether or not to spend their money and time on the experience.

Hope that clarification helps!

Just to chip in and say I second this. It's hard to explain, but I lump Early Access in with F2P and MMO / live service games. They're not "done", so while yes they are taking money from some people, I'm not going to be one of them -- I warn my kids off of EA as well -- and I personally would rather hear about them when they make it all the way out of the oven.

Right I think part of my thing is the critique of certain things of an unfinished game by journalism professionals, and I would hope that if they were playing a game in early access they were also voicing their critiques wherever the dev team has asked for them (like on the steam community page) so they are contributing to the development like a beta tester would. So I can see getting an early access game if it's a game you're excited about being a helping hand in the development but maybe not from a journalism side? Though I totally see what the besties are saying with the fact that the game is live to play and having them play it to give the audience an idea of the game in the early version is good, I think part of me just wishes it was in the Bside and not the main part of the ep.
