I can't believe you guys didn't mention the photography in Bioshock. I really liked how it actually gave an incentive to engage with it.

I tend to open Photo Modes when I learn they exist, spend time setting up exactly 1 shot, and then never open it again. I love seeing other's creations with Photo Mode but I do not have the patience, nor am I interested in opening photo mode every time I think there could be a cool shot.

I do screenshot with abandon and love how easy it is in the recent gens of consoles to screenshot/capture video with the Share buttons on every controller. I have many fun encounters saved on my Switch, for example, of my partner running around with me in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet.

I do distinctly remember the Pictobox from Legend of Zelda: Windwaker and completing all those photo challenges to get color pictures. Unlike Plante, I did not feel the need to photograph every enemy ever in order to complete the compendium in Windwaker, but I guess they hid it better so I never had to think about it.

Also, Polaroid Pete is definitely up to no good.

I have never taken photos in games except by accident while learning the controls. I have never thought about going back to look at photos ever b/c omg who cares. The only time I used a camera in game was the last couple of zelda games when I had to as part of a quest until I gave up on the quest b/c it was dumb. X) Oh holy crap taking pictures in games is dumb.

For Griffin: FFX is my favorite game of all time, so when you talked about playing through it I was stoked to hear your thoughts. You never really got into it – maybe it didn't make a strong impression, but I would love to know what your experience was like.

For Plante: Have you started Silent Hill 2 yet? That's tied for favorite game of all time with FFX, and I can't wait to hear what your experience is like. Also – have you seen Inland Empire?

For all four boys: Asking questions like this always feels a little pushy because of the one-way parasocial nature of being a listener. Thanks so much for spending the care and time on the podcast, I always really enjoy it. You're doing great work and it always buoys me for an hour. I really appreciate it.

P.S. Have you seen the Armored Core VI story trailer that dropped this week? It's incredible.

P.S.S. (Sorry these questions have nothing to do with this week's episode but I wasn't sure where else to ask them 😩)

I remember getting Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast and finding it pretty cool for a very short time and then dropping off - for reasons that will become apparent.

I did all the missions you could get given in the hub world, which from memory were just kill a bunch of basic enemies and go back to hand in the quest. Once I had done all that I had no idea what you were supposed to do (I was pretty young, I'm almost exactly the same age as Griffin and I got it on release). So I remember just putting that to one side because my parents wouldn't let me connect the Dreamcast to Dreamarena (which from memory was the name of the online part of Dreamcast).

Fast forward a few months and a family friend was staying with us. "Hey can I play PSO? I've been meaning to" "Yeah sure but we don't have online connected" "That's fine". Then my tiny mind was blown as I watched my friend completely ignore the hub world quest giver and walk straight out into the actual game, which I never even knew you could go to if you didn't have a quest active...

I never saw that game again as my parents gave it to the family friend since they knew they'd bought it for me and I only played it for a couple of days. Friend was thrilled. I was sad.

Photomode in code vein is my guilty pleasure. My friend and I beat it together and the screenshots we took are not only a testament to our friendship but also to our shame. I accidentally sent one to a girl I was dating. 😅

Not a photography game but in the realm of perspective, you guys need to check out Maquette on Game Pass, it's incredibly fun and interesting, and actually does manage to tie the story into the gameplay.

I have a goal of going back and playing every GOTY nominee in Besties history. Should I play them 2012-2022 or 2022-2012?

I had the same return to Phantasy Star Online like a year or so ago, and I agree with Griffin so wholeheartedly. It’s incredible to look up a game you love from your childhood or from a long time ago and see that it’s in just as good shape as you left it, basically.

Just wanted to ask: what race/class is Griffin?
