Very excited about The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. I really like the art style from the Link’s Awakening remake and hope they use it to update the original game someday.
I hope there will still be HD remakes of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess for the Switch (or Super Nintendo Switch) once the release cycle for EoW slows down.
Agreed! It's not my *favorite* style. But I do like it. I really appreciate any time games have an original visual style. (That's part of the reason I rank the first Yoshi's Island so highly. Even though it's explicitly an "infantile" style, I'd seen nothing else like it at the time. They conveyed the texture of crayons and pencil so effectively!) Your comment got me thinking about how they could mix and match styles in remakes. Wind Waker in the "Link's Awakening" style. Minish Cap in the style of Twilight Princess. BOTW a la Link to the Past? Twilight Princess a la Wind Waker! Anyway, I wanted to ask which combos sound cool to you?
RIP AlphaDream. I feel like people are insufficiently suspicious of whether or not the magic of their Mario and Luigi games can be replicated by another studio. Those games are special!
I’m excited for Brothership; I am really liking the art style.
We haven’t seen a Mario & Luigi game for a bit because the developer, AlphaDream, filed for bankruptcy back in 2019 unfortunately. I heard many of the devs may have landed at Nintendo though so there is a chance they are working on this one.
I gotta say, as someone who's full understanding of Destiny as retained from previous times the Besties have talked about it is "the guns feel good to shoot", it is delightful listening to the boys discuss Destiny lore.
I know next to nothing about Destiny. Hearing them talking about it sounds like they are playing some kind of improv game where they just keep adding crazier and crazier concepts to describe the game. Or like everyone is talking about some kind of collective fever dream. I loved it!
Hey, any chance y'all would consider revisiting Diablo 4? I hated it as much as you guys did when it released, but now with the "Loot Reborn" update I am totally hooked, to the point that it's pulling me away from Shadow of the Erdtree here and there. Would be curious to hear your thoughts!
what was the documentary that was (i believe) recommended to Justin by Chris? Something involving a great director that had previously made something very good?
The announcement of a new Mario & Luigi game has me both excited and nostalgic for when I used to play Superstar Saga as a 2 player co-op game with my brother using the GameCube Player, which allowed the use of any controller port. I would control Mario, my brother would control Luigi, and together we had a blast!
The problem with "getting into Destiny 2 now" is that you can't even truly do that, can you?
My understanding of Destiny 2 (as someone who has never played it so tell me if I'm wrong) is that because of the Vault, if you missed the boat you can never truly experience the entire game/story. Like they mention Forsaken a few times as a high point of the game, but the last time I looked into this as a "maybe I should check this out before the whole thing ends," I saw pretty much all of that story content had been removed and only some endgame stuff was still around.
Basically every piece of story content made under Activision and all seasonal story content is in the Content Vault. There is now a timeline on the destinations screen that let's you play some mission and read about the others. It really is unfortunate because there is some good stuff in there (and some bad stuff).
For what it's worth, Final Shape didn't suddenly give yer guardian a voice. They talked a fair bit in Destiny 1, and one of the complaints about Des2ny when it launched was that your guardian lost his voice. So them talking again in Forsaken was a big moment. And for a lot of Des2ny Players, hearing your guardian is a treat, and we want more.
From what I've heard it's because it's expensive. When your Guardian talks, they have one voice actor for each race & gender. Then multiply that by how many different languages the game is made in.
I want to like Destiny 2, but I've already given them so much money for content that I can no longer play: base game (Red War), several expansions, and any seasonal content. It just feels like a bad investment for my gaming dollar.
Eh, I can see why people think that but once I played through the Red War the handful of times, was I really going back and playing the campaign? No. You just gotta look at the price tag as a subscription to playing the game. You're paying $60-$100 for a years worth of content. IMO the content not being there is more harmful to new players than players who have already played it.
I mean, this is really my problem with the game from a games preservation perspective. It wants to be an MMO, but most of them don't just remove most of story from the game like this.
I'm lowkey hoping, with them being bought by Sony, that they just turn what content was vaulted into some type of show or something. Even if they added the campaigns back into the game, I wouldn't play them unless there was some kind of loot incentive.
Listening to you guys talk about Destiny feels like you're talking about a game that was made up for an episode of CSI

My first thought when I saw the new Zelda was Justin's comment from TOTK episode where he said he wanted a Zelda game where you play as Zelda.
Also it's crazy the Prime 4 was in the direct and that was like the least interesting thing from the direct. Just wild
I was juiced about Prime 4! But I certainly understand why people were a little let down
Truly screamed “shut the fuck up” at my screen when I saw we’re finally FINALLY getting Ace Attorney Investigations 2 🎉⚖️🎉👩⚖️🎉

Also the buildcrafting is really fun.
No mention of Mario Party?

Looks like it's "Some Kind of Heaven" directed by Lance Oppenheim. Justin mentioned Ren Faire by the same director.

Woot!
