I really enjoyed the segment about making up Star Wars games. It reminded me a lot of "CoolGames Inc", an old podcast Griffin hosted. I understand and support the decision to shut it down, but have you all thought about doing a Patreon episode that would be a besties CoolGames Inc.?
Thanks for the show, I look forward to it every week. XOXO
Damn I really want a 2d search action game made by the Prince of persia lost crown people that tells a story of a Jedi trying to rescue kids during the order 66. That would be amazing. Damn Justin that's a really cool idea
I was going to make an angry post that putting the episode up hours before sending the newsletter out leaves Besties superfans who start their Friday by listening to the boys in unnecessary suspense. But actually, it was worth the wait.
I have a book rec for J-man!! Not sure how familiar you are with Adrian Tchaikovsky's work (if you're not I personally think he's one of the best sci-fi/speculative fiction authors out there!) but he has a series called Dogs of War based in a future where animal-human hybrids have advanced to becoming commonplace among the military etc. it's an incredible exploration of humanity and sapience and poses the question of at what point do we have to afford rights to our non-human creations. Big focus on the future of humanity and AI and the beginnings of taking colonisation to the stars. Love you guys thanks for keeping me aware of what's going on out there as someone who lives under a purpose built rock <3
Griffin and Justin! I have heard you talk a lot about Korean reality shows, but I've never heard you mention The Genius. I don't think anyone has introduced the show to you, so I'm thrilled to be the one to do it. The Genius is the spiritual predecessor to The Devil's Plan made by the same PD (producer director). It is not only the best Korean Reality shows ever made, but it is one of the best shows ever made. Here is a youtube discussing the show and its brilliant editing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Lng4dn1uAc
Jung Jong-yeon (JJY), the PD of The Genius, also made The Great Escape, which is my favorite of his shows. The Great Escape is 4 seasons of the same 6 guys doing escape situations together. Each escape is a full day escape "room" which takes place in a new building or compound for each escape. The scale and production value in this show are crazy, but the vibe of the show is why it's my favorite. The writers and editors take every opportunity to lovingly dunk on these 6 guys. I have never seen anything like it. This show also stars Kim Donghyun who you might remember from season 2 of Physical 100.
JJY also made Society Game (a survivor-like) and Girls' High Mystery Class (a story driven puzzle show). Korean reality shows have whooped ass for over a decade. We just didn't get them easily in the states until recently.
I was in KCMO in February while my wife was at a writer's conference and had a great time at the Nelson-Atkins! The sculpture garden and contemporary exhibits were my favorite
I don’t want to encourage this sort of behavior, but the meme did make me subscribe to the newsletter.
Shocked that Justin thought us knowing the character would possibly give the meme away

Dreamcast da best
good gravy, I was not prepared for that meme
The meme made me so angry I crashed my bike on my commute home. Who do I send the hospital bills to?

Looks like it's just 20 days until I never get anything done ever again when Balatro mobile is released.

Oh hey, I've been to that museum, it's great! And I knew what it was before I saw the name (could never forget those shuttlecocks).
Concerning next week’s episode…ASTRO BOT KICKS ASS!!! Can’t wait for next Friday to hear ya’ll talk it up
Yay, Nelson-Atkins! Although having grown up in St. Louis, I've gotta say SLAM is my #1.
