This was my thought too but... Is she controlled by link? Or is he on her back but she is still deciding where to go? I think it's slightly ambiguous but I voted no because I assumed Link is somehow taking direct control when he hops on the back, especially since it uses his power pack.
He's not, he's just holding onto handles. If you want "visibly piloting", check out how exuberantly he yanks around the steering stick on any other Zonai device...
Ok I actually think lore-wise it would be hilarious if that was true. Imagine if in the middle of battle Link just takes a break, climbs up on Mineru's construct, holds on and does nothing while Mineru fights.
Even if there was some way in hell people voted that mineru counted as a separate character, it would be as a technicality and Russ would have to take the points with an asterix.
It’s kinda funny how Yoshi is the answer to both. You wouldn’t say that you play *as* Yoshi in Super Mario World, Sunshine, Galaxy 2 etc. you’re just riding him the same way you’re riding Mineru-bot. That’s specifically called out as different in games like Mario Wonder.
And I’m willing to accept the sequel to ultimately prove me wrong, but until I am proven otherwise, I have to assume that is capital Y Yoshi’s egg. It would be the oddest directing if it was anything but. And that absolutely fits the spirit of the prediction as he’s associated with his egg as closely as Mario is his hat. If you made a Zelda movie and the post credit scene just had the skull kid laugh and the mask laying on the ground youd say he was there for the scene. As for the egg that was at the wedding, I’m not convinced it is necessarily the same egg. It definitely can’t be proven it is beyond reasonable doubt. That’s the logic of my vote at least.
Even if it turned out not to be Yoshi, the filmmakers would have set you up to believe that on purpose allowing them to subvert it in the sequel. For now, it’s Yoshi.
I really hope Remedy remains independent. Between them and Larian in 2023, it's just been really nice seeing independent studios that have been around for literal decades finding continued success in just doing what they want to do, making the games they want to make.
My favorite playable character was every korok that I controlled, trying to reach their buddies while magically suspended a few feet off the ground . Link might have stayed close by but that's irrelevant.
Though I agree it’s not what he meant by “playable character”, the moment I was riding around on Mineru I felt like I was playing as a fully different character. The game set the first sequence with Mineru aside to be fully played as her (her soul in a robot, to be fair). It felt as much like playing as another character as the character switches in games like Witcher 3, if not more unique. I know this is a losing battle, but I'm fighting it lol.
Yoshi after credits scene was spot on—absolutely no doubt.
Glad everyone is in consensus about the two polls. Using this time instead to once again implore to read the best mystery visual novel of all time, Umineko no Naku Koro ni.
I'll throw another recommendation out for trying Against the Storm - I've got about 20 hours in so far and it's constantly on my mind (and my go-to for solo play right now. A rogue-lite city builder that's easy to pick up, but deceptively deep in possible complexity. The strategy can vary SIGNIFICANTLY from run to run. The art style is beautiful, and they've found a lovely balance of micro and macro control that creates a fun gameplay loop that is both mellow but exciting experience.
Russ' terrible ear picture was what got me to subscribe to the newsletter. I just couldn't get the curiousity to stop. Even though I knew I wouldn't be happy after seeing it I just had to witness it; which made me wonder
Is there a game that has peaked your curiosity into playing it even though you knew you weren't going to like what it was? Or thought it was a terrible idea to play but did it anyway?
I just came here to post the same! And it looks like it's going the lower-powered route as well.
I can see this having a place. I rarely use my Steam Deck for more demanding games anyway, 1-2 hr battery life isn't very fun, and I'd rather use my PC/monitors for AAA experiences. It's mainly an indie machine. SteamOS has also been pleasant.
When Russ rides a horse he thinks “wow I am a horse now”
Yoshi yes, Mineru no.
Mineru is controlled by... Link. So no.
The egg is totally intended to introduce Yoshi. So yes.
This was my thought too but... Is she controlled by link? Or is he on her back but she is still deciding where to go? I think it's slightly ambiguous but I voted no because I assumed Link is somehow taking direct control when he hops on the back, especially since it uses his power pack.
Link is visibly holding controls and piloting.

The Ayaneo Next Lite was just announced as a handheld running steam os btw. https://www.ign.com/articles/ayaneo-next-lite-is-the-first-steam-deck-competitor-with-steamos-ces-2024

My favourite playable character in totk is that one car I built from random debris I found lying around

Y'all should check it out for sure!

Well that new handheld with SteamOS was fast lol
Well already nailed the SteamOS handheld not made by Valve!

Really curious how much they'll charge for this one. The Ayaneo Air was already leading cheaper. I'm thinking at best $400 but who knows!
This has gotta be by far the fastest turnaround from Resties prediction to announcement. Possibly an unbreakable record even.

YouTube is already getting into/into games! I think it’s still a beta but you can opt in to playing games on their app.
Basically at the same state Netflix was a year ago or so.
Yes! So far the games seem very veeery bare bones. But curious to see if they'll expand it more.
I respect the hustle, but it feels like the argument for Mineru would also have to apply to like… the horse in Elden Ring
